The world needs a crisp new start and the announcement of the Pantone Color of 2022, which is “Very Peri,” heralds much excitement. Very Peri is a deep violet blue hue with red undertones. For the first time in the history of the Pantone Color of the Year program, this is a brand new shade. Given the current state of affairs in the world, Very Peri is such an apropos choice. The color has therapeutic effects and speaks of repairing relationships and love. We will see this new color pop up in fashion, beauty, technology, and interior design in the coming months.
A close relative to this brand new color is periwinkle. It is a purplish gray blue herb which comes from myrtle the plant. This organism is a fast-growing ground cover in Europe with deep green foliage and poisonous flowers that bloom throughout the year depending on the climate.
A fun vacation trip to France next June or July to the Provence region south of Paris would unveil a Lavender museum in the Senanque Abbey with rows and rows of these gorgeous spreading plants. This is the flower of immortality in France and a badge of friendship.
Some of the ways we can incorporate this color into our homes would be to use a throw, add a lamp shade, go bold with a sofa, use bedding, in floral arrangements, or in art. The energy of red blended with the calmness of blue is going to excite our creativity and update our environment. Adding pink, carrot, apricot, sky blue, beige, or green to the color palette would lend some cheerful joy. As we March forward into 2022, “Very Peri” is going to give us positive energy.
